Call for the training of predoctoral research personnel associated with priority lines of research awarded to the University of Granada, within the framework of the accreditation of the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence (Ref. CEX2023-001312-M), according to the resolution published on the website of the State Research Agency on June 18, 2024.
Object and purpose of the grants
The purpose of the grants is the training of new PhDs through the completion of a doctoral thesis associated with a priority line of the funded strategic program, including the financing of the costs of hiring predoctoral research personnel, stays in R&D centers and tuition fees for doctoral studies.
Likewise, within the framework of the actions, a postdoctoral orientation period (hereinafter POP) will be financed for a maximum period of 12 months, once the doctoral degree has been obtained, aimed at the professional improvement and specialization of these research personnel, provided that the degree is obtained during the period of execution of the action for the training of predoctoral research personnel.
Three grants are available.

Requirements for applicants
Applicants may be all those persons who are enrolled or admitted in a doctoral program at the University of Granada for the academic year 2024/2025, at the time of submission of the application. Applicants may also be all those persons who, at the time of submission of the application, are not enrolled or admitted in a doctoral program, but are in a position to be enrolled or admitted on the date on which the contract is formalized.
Those who meet any of the following circumstances will not be eligible to be applicants, nor to access the hiring incentive:
- a) Have begun their pre-doctoral training with funding from other grants for pre-doctoral training through the development of a doctoral thesis that have been awarded within the framework of the State Plan for Research, Development and Technological Innovation or any of the previous National Plans.
- b) To be in possession of the title of Doctor, from any Spanish or foreign university.
- c) To have enjoyed, prior to the presentation of the application, a pre-doctoral contract for a period of more than twelve months subsidized in calls other than those specified in section a).
Deadline for submission of applications
The period for presentation and registration of the application will be 20 working days from the day following the publication of this resolution in the BOJA, ending at 23:59 hours on the closing date.

Applications
The application process consists of two stages:
1. Generation of the application form.
Applicants must fill in the information on the form available on the website of the Vice-rectorate for Research and Transfer at the following address:
Each person may submit only one application.
The application may be made indicating one or several (prioritized) research lines of those established in the Annex of this call (PDF).
In the case of submission of several applications, the last one submitted in the electronic registry of the University of Granada will be considered valid.
The following documentation must be attached to the application in PDF format:
- University degrees, or proof of having paid the fees for their issuance, and official academic certificates corresponding to the degrees passed on the date of presentation of the application, issued by the academic entity. The certificate must include the grades obtained and the dates on which they were obtained corresponding to the subjects that constitute the program of the degrees or teachings that are included. The application generated will automatically include a responsible statement that the degrees or studies referred to in the academic certificate are those passed at the time of the application. If the academic certificate is issued in a language other than Spanish or English, it must be accompanied by the corresponding sworn translation into one of these two languages. In the case of certificates issued by foreign centers, the maximum and minimum grades within the corresponding evaluation system and the minimum passing grade must also be stated.
- Curriculum Vitae, in Spanish or English (Word). It is recommended to fill it out, up to a maximum of three pages, in the model available in the web page of the University of Granada, in the section corresponding to this call.
- Official documents that accredit all the merits of the Curriculum Vitae.
Once the form has been completed and the digitalized documents have been provided, the system will generate an application form that the applicant will receive by e-mail and submit to the Electronic Registry of the University of Granada, in accordance with the following section.
2. Submission and registration of applications through the Electronic Headquarters of the University of Granada.
Applications that are not completed and sent electronically in accordance with the provisions of this section will not be accepted for processing.
The application generated must be submitted, with the rest of the documentation, through the electronic office of the University of Granada, in the procedure:
- «Investigación: Otras peticiones y comunicaciones»
- indicating in the section: “Solicitud Contratos Predoctorales MdM 2023” (Application for Predoctoral Contracts MdM 2023).
This procedure will be mandatory for all persons with a DNI or NIE.
- As an exception, for persons who do not have a DNI or NIE, given that they cannot have an electronic identification system permitted in Spain, the submission of the application by any of the modalities provided for in Law 39/2015, of October 1, will be admitted, or they may authorize a third person, for the submission on their behalf of the application through the electronic headquarters of the University of Granada.
The submission of the application entails consent to the processing of personal data of applicants for the purpose of the resolution of the call, within the framework of the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the protection of personal data and guarantee of digital rights, as well as consent to check or collect from other bodies, Administrations or suppliers, by electronic means, information on circumstances of the applications that, in accordance with the call and the applicable regulations, are relevant for the instruction of the procedure.
The presentation in the competition implies the declaration that the documents and merits provided are true, and the University of Granada may request at any time prior or subsequent to the evaluation of the applications the provision of the original supporting documentation. Failure to provide the required documentation or the verification of the existence of falsehoods in the documentation or merits provided, will entitle the University of Granada to initiate the legal actions it deems appropriate against the applicant and, if applicable, the termination of the contract in the event that it had been awarded.
